So, no more worky then.

There’s a lot going on kids.  First off, the H&R Block thing ended last weekend on Saturday.  Sad?  Yeah, I would’ve liked to make a little more in the greenback department before ending so soon.  It was a great job, though, and some good experience in the Tech Support realm of things.  I also ended my second class in the “Road to the B.A. cubed” quest.  Color Theory was a bit more interesting than I’d imagined.  Not too awful crazy about my final project though.  See Below:

It’s okay and all, but I kinda ran outta time while in the creative process and putting a few finishing touches on it was not in the realm of reality, so this is it.  Turns out everyone in class loved it.  I was inspired while having a tough time coming up with something for the final piece.  I was driving home on a foggy night and the road; stuff in the distance and even the light poles seemed to vanish.  It was a surreal experience actually.  The streetlights appeared as floating orbs in the sky.  No, I’m not going crazy.

Okay, so other than that what’s up?  Well, I’m totally and completely proud of a recent repair I’ve made.  Wasn’t sure I could do it actually.  My Xbox 360 is out of warranty (had it like 4 years or more now) and the DVD ROM drive is making like mega ridiculous amounts of noise.  Grinding and all kindsa weird stuff emanating while I’m knee deep in the dead (L4Dead 2) is not going to work for me.  I have to stay focused as my teammates depend on me.  I was just joking right there.  I am into L4D 2 though.  So, I Google how to fix this.  Well, there’s a ton of “helpers” out there, but you really have to search to find some real help.  I did.  XboxSlave.com is a great place to find video tutorials on doing such a job and much much more.  This guy shows you how to do it and you can even buy the parts at a reasonable price there.  I didn’t as I found another joint that only set me back a little less than $40 for the drive including shipping.  So, here’s a little vid of this guy showing you how to completely dismantle your 360.  Keep in mind, there’s no way I’d do any of this if it were still under warranty.

So, it didn’t take too long and it was a success.  Yay!!!

I am also proud of another do it yourself kinda thing going on around the Trail Compound.  I am now, and from here on out, making my own soda.  I had checked on it a few years ago and kinda gave up, as there was nothing to work with really.  I love Coca-Cola.  Seriously, it’s an illness.  I’m totally and completely addicted to it and it’s freakin’ expensive.  I mean, a case is like $7 pretty much now.  Nuts!  Also, surely you already know this, but it’s really not very good for you.  I drink quite a lot and while it’s not as harmful as some other vices (drinking, drugs and smoking), it is still not good.  Now, the wife has the Trail posse trying to avoid the whole idea of High Fructose Corn Syrup as much as possible.  It’s not that easy as that shit is in everything.  Check your bread for example.  I’d almost guarantee it has that as one of the first five ingredients.

So, I can get Pepsi Throwback (pure cane sugar in place of HFCS) or they even have Mexican Coca-Cola at CostCo (right for like $18 a case and in glass bottles).  There’s not many options out there and Jones Soda (pure cane also) isn’t so easy to find.  Plus, it’s a cool $10 a case.  Then I found SodaStream.

Watching:

Right now I’m trying to get through the first two hour season opener of this last season of “Lost”.  Gotta tell ya, I am NOT liking it so far.  I don’t know what the H-E-double hockey sticks they’re doing with the ending, but it’s suckaroni and cheese at the moment.  More smoke monster please!

So, like, why the hell aren't you running dude?

Reading:

Well, I just finished issue #69 of Walking Dead and wow!  What a strangely fascinating piece of work.  I really have to hand it to these guys as they’ve created a new and exciting take on the whole “waking up to a world of zombies” genre.  Great stuff, but not for the feint of heart.  Here’s a cool mural wallpaper issued at the time of the first 50 issues.  Pretty cool cover art really.

Yeah, they're dead alright.

Playing:

Okay, so I already let on that I’m knee deep in Left 4 Dead 2 and that is indeed true.  With the 360 working better now, you’re liable to catch me on Live anytime.  Gamertag is hawkmankt.

What’s my deal with zombies anyway?  I have no idea people.

Also, been playing some fun stuff on the old iPhone.  Coolest newest thing out there?  Well IMHO, I say its Plants vs Zombies (yes, zombies once more.  Something is wrong with me.).  This game is a blast and easily the best tower defense product on the iPhone.  Check it if you get the chance.

Listening:

Not much has changed here really.  Nothing much new out really.  I will say that I have indeed found Jonathan Coulton and I’m loving it.  He is a great artist and just freaking hilarious.  Check out this tune about Tom Cruise.

That really is about it kids.  Not so much else to report.

Go R’alls!
